Author/broadcaster Gloria Guttman has been greatly involved with ICRF for over 13 years. She has put her heart and soul into her new cookbook, Cooking Kindness – Heroes in the Kitchen. Proceeds will be donated to ICRF (Toronto).
Cooking Kindness includes a compilation of Gloria’s favorite recipes plus those she has collected from around the world over the past decades. Many of the contributors have dedicated their recipes in honour of a cancer victim or survivor.
Launched at the 2006 Women of Action Luncheon, Cooking Kindness – Heroes in the Kitchen is available at book stores, fine food shops and synagogues. To order your copy, please call 1-866-230-3269, download our order form, or e-mail gguttman04@earthlink.net.
After the tragic loss of Joy & Chuck Feldman’s son Lorne to cancer, Joy started knitting the first of what are now hundreds of colourful, whimsical and unique scarves that are rich in texture and reflect the comfort and warmth of a caring hug. Joy sells these for $75 each at events throughout the year and donates the full proceeds to the Israel Cancer Research Fund so that some of the world’s most talented researchers can direct their knowledge toward ending the scourge of cancer.
To date, the Project has raised almost $40,000 and is closing in on funding a second research fellowship. Joy’s goal is to keep on knitting so that in the future, “no mother’s hands will have to knit in grief.”
The Tzedekah project is an innovative way to involve students in our crusade to fight cancer. Our goals for this year's program are to raise funds for cancer research in Israel, to increase the student's knowledge base with regard to scientific research and its effect on our world as well as to raise community awareness of our organization. Each student will be decorating his/her own personal tzedakah box to take home. We hope to make this a family affair by including everyone in this worthwhile endeavour. We are looking forward to an educational and successful campaign this year.
